WERNETTE
1838 - 1923

John Wernette (July 8, 1838 – January 18, 1923) was the husband of 
Esther “Elizabeth” (Miller) Wernette (August 1841 – June 9, 1935).  Both John 
and Elizabeth were born in Ontario, Canada.  John was the second of ten 
children born to Jean/John Wernette/Vernette and Maria Antonia Veitenheimer.  
John’s father Jean Wernette/Vernette was a French immigrant from the Alsace 
region, and John’s mother was a German immigrant.  Elizabeth’s parents were 
Jesse and Catherine Miller.  John and Elizabeth had eleven children.

In 1930 Elizabeth was living in Pasadena, California, with two of her 
daughters.  She passed away in 1935 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, 
Pasadena, Los Angeles County, California.
