Joseph Babka
born March 5, 1835 Katow, Bohemia
Died Nov. 25, 1912
Married Jan. 27, 1868 in Plainfield, Michigan
Emigrated from Bohemia to USA 1854.  Enlisted at Pittsburg, Pa. in US Army as 
musician Oct. 20, 1854.  Served on the frontiers of Washington and Oregon 
Territories for 6 years fighting Indians.  Was discharged at Vancouver Aug. 
20, 1861; re-enlisted the same day in the war of the Rebellion, 1861.  Was 
under McClellan, Burnside and Mead in 9 of the hardest fought battles, and 
many otheres.  Discharged for disability at Phil. Pa. Dec. 30, 1863.
