FROM DELLA AUGUSTA WINEGAR'S SCRAPBOOKS (time frame mostly --30's-40's) MISC FORMER LOWELL RESIDENT DIES IN HOLLYWOOD Frank DAVEY-70 who rose from a $2.00 a day laborer in the plant of the Lowell Cutter Company to become a multi-millionaire real estate operator in Hollywood, is dead at his home there. Mr. Davey left Lowell to go to Detroit, where he was associated with the Fisher Body Company in its early years. About 12 years ago he went to Hollywood, where he had since lived. Surviving are the widow and two sons, William and Joseph. REYNOLDS AND WACHTERHAUSER located at Center and Main Streets. WOULD BE IN CHURCH Lowell, Jan. 20 Thomas DOYLE and Zeona RIVETTE of the local high school have applied for membership in the National High School Chorus, which will sing at the convention of the Music Supervisors in Cleveland in April. Miss Dorothy MARSMAN of Grand Rapids will train the pupils. WITH ORCHESTRA Lynn CLARK, baritone will be soloist with the Inter-high orchestra at a concert in East Grand Rapids High School auditorium Thursday night. Feb. 1. 1934 Lowell Feb. 12 1934 Twenty Businessmen, headed by Norman BORGERSEN, president of the Lowell Board of Trade, Friday waited upon H.L. WEEKES and Rev. R. W. MERRILL, pastor of Lowell Methodist Church, presenting each with a fleece-lined bathing suit. The mementoes were in recognition of the fact the two men took advantage of the spring like weather Thursday to take dips in the Flat River. LOWELL MINISTER BUSINESSMEN TAKE FEBRUARY PLUNGE Rev. R.W. MERRILL, pastor of the Methodist church; H. L. WEEKES, prominent business man and A.F. ZWEMER, teacher of science at the high school, penetrated the jungles along the Flat river today and struck by the balmy breezes their fancy turned to spring. Rev. Merrill and Mr. Weekes were challened to take a plunge in the refreshing waters, freed from Ice only the day before.
