Angove, 96, a former resident of Ripley and Douglas House Apartments, passed away Sunday, September 7, 2008, at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility in Hancock where he had been a resident patient for the past year. He was born on September 24, 1911, in Painesdale, a son of the late John and Martha (Yendow) Angove. As a child, he moved to Houghton with his family and then as a young man, moved to make his home in the Detroit area. John moved back to the Copper Country in 1992 to make his home in Ripley. He then moved to the Douglas House Apartments in Houghton before becoming a resident patient at the Houghton County Medical Care Facility. Mr. Angove was united in marriage to the former Lois Bates and she preceded him in death in 1980. John had worked as a dental technician for Wyandotte Dental Lab. Preceding him in death were his wife; his parents; four brothers; and three sisters. Surviving are his children, Janet Angove of Houghton, Gary Angove of Ripley; five grandchildren, Grigg Espinoza, Valerie Maguire, Kimberly Huhta, Kristi Angove and Michael Angove; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for John will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008, in the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock with Rev. Tom Anderson to officiate. Burial will be in the Eagle River Cemetery in Eagle River. Friends may call on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at the Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Hancock from 10 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, the family suggests that memorials be given to Little Brothers Friends of the Elderly.
