He was born January 18, 1934 in Osceola, a son of the late Evert and Milma (Bodi) Karvonen. He attended and graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1953. After graduation, he attended Suomi College and later, Northern Michigan University where he received his bachelor’s in education. Glenn taught at the Marlette High School in Lower MIchigan for six years and then in 1967, he moved to Allouez and taught at the Lake Linden-Hubbell HIgh School as an industrial arts teacher until 1989 when he retired. He was united in marriage to Rosalie Rogers on September 5, 1959 at the Laurium Apostolic Lutheran Church. Glenn was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Laurium Apostolic Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Shirley. Glenn enjoyed his flower gardens, hunting, fishing, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Rosalie; three sons, Eric Karvonen of Kearsarge, Ted (Leslie) Karvonen of Calumet, John (Donna) Karvonen of Allouez; a daughter, Ann (Roger) Harris of Allouez; a grandson, James Richards; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, October 4, 2002, in the Erickson Crowley Funeral Home in Calumet with Rev. Rodney Johnson to officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1p.m. at the funeral home.
