Dorothy F. Rouse 67, died suddenly Sunday at 3 p.m. She has just completed a visit with friends at Walf lake, had entered her car minutes before she was stricken with a fatal heart attack. She had been in failing health for several years. Born July 21, 1891 in Nova Scotia, she moved to Chicago at the age of 7. She was married September 4, 1904 to Henry (Hank Rouse and have resided south of Baldwin for the past 50 years. Mrs. Rouse and her husband travelled the vaudeville circuit for many years before retiring. Mrs. Rouse was a protege of the well known Gus Edwards. One of her first appearances on the stage she was cast as little Eva in Uncle Tom's Cabin. Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Robert H. of Marshall and James of Sparta; one daughter Margaret Jackson of Grand Rapids; two brothers, George and Herbert Stanley of Chicago; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Strange of Leavenworth, Kansas and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Baldwin Congregational church with Rev. Gerald E. Bender officiating. Burial took place in Pleasant Plains cemetary. Remains were at the Livingston Funeral Home, Reed City, until time of service. Notes on this obituary: Date of marriage is wrong, the real date is September 02, 1910.
