Tripp jan_tripp@comcast.net March 11, 2005, 8:46 pm Lake County Star - 12 June 1930 PORTER TRUCKS DEAD FATHER OF LOCAL ATTORNEY PASSIN IN HEART ATTACK AT AGE 73 Porter Trucks, father of Ray Trucks, Baldwin attorney and head of the Lake County Abstract Company, died at the latter’s home Monday night of a heart attack. He was 73 years old. Mr. Trucks had been ailing of the past four months and had been intermittently confined to his bed. He had been steadily failing of late and Monday evening had a more acute attack than usual. Dr. Stibal gave him a hypodermic that seemed to rally him for the time, but Attorney Trucks was called shortly before ten and was with his father when the end came. Mr. Trucks had made his home her the past four years, and has made many friends. He was a mason by trade and a good one, learning the trade as an apprentice and following it throughout his life. He was active up to the time of his last illness. Porter Trucks was born in Montpelier, Ohio October 13, 1857 and there married Sarah Kreigh 48 years ago. She preceded him in death by eight years. They moved to Scottville forty years ago and there reared their family of five boys, Ray of Baldwin, Glenn of Detroit, Fred of Flint, Kenneth of Benton Harbor and Max of Plymouth. In 1918 they moved to Plymouth were Mrs. Trucks passed away and was buried. The body of her husband was taken in the Duffing-Stephens funeral car to Plymouth yesterday morning at seven o’clock after a brief prayer service at the Trucks home, conducted by the Rev. D. J. Miller, Mr. Fred Trucks of Flint was here for the service, and the other sons met the cortege at Plymouth, where services preceded the interment at three o’clock.
