Nov 21, 1934, LAPEER COUNTY PRESS "ELIAS CORNELL OBITUARY Elias Cornell was born in Chatham, Canada on July 19, 1837, and died Nov 9, 1934 at the home of his son, Fred, at Melanies Corners. At the age of 21 he came to the United States, settling in Imlay City and lived in Lapeer County over 75 years. In 1865 he married Nancy Greenman who preceded him in death 59 years ago. Since that time he never married. To this union five children were born, four of whom are now living; Mrs. Staley of Capac, Mrs. James Logan of Port Huron, Frank of Flint and Fred at Melanies Corners, with whom he made his home. Mr. Cornell lived on a farm south-east of Imlay City for many years. About 25 years ago he went to northern Michigan and later moved to Hunters Creek, after which he moved onto the farm where he died. He leaves to mourn his loss, four children, 30 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren, besides a host of friends and relatives. Rev.
