Taylor Date Of Photograph: 1860s Photo can be seen at: http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/lapeer/photos/taylor34581gph.jpg Image file size: 327.9 Kb Jacobeh M. Taylor, born in 1804 in NY, died 1878 at son Jacob's home, Mayfield Twp, Lapeer Co, MI. Removed to Lapeer Co in the late 1830s or early 1840s. Jacobeh's wife was Margaret Ann Swarthout. Burial location unknown, but according to Jacobeh's granddaughter Rachel Taylor, he and his wife are buried at the Roscoe Cemetery (disused) on Newark Rd., Attica Twp, Lapeer Co, MI. No tombstone has been found, but a son of one of Jacobeh's daughters, William Peck, does have a gravestone. So, there is some connection in that cemetery to the Taylors. Jacobeh is listed in the census as a millwright and family accounts indicate he participated in the construction of the Lapeer Co Courthouse. His descendants had a homestead in Oregon Twp. This is the only known photograph of Jacobeh probably taken in the 1860s or early 1870s. Additional Comments: This tinted tin-type is sealed in glass. I took a digital photograph and restored it as accurately as possible. Any further information about the Taylor family in Lapeer Co would be appreciated.
