The cemetery is disused and unmaintained. Most gravestones have disappeared, are grown over, or are broken. The cemetery is sited on what was the Luke Roscoe farm. Adjacent to the cemetery is the old Buckingham School house, now converted into a private residence. "Attica, Roscoe Cemetery (Sec 19) on North side Newark Road just East of Five Lakes Road. Long unused. Roscoe Burial Ground Association incorporated 5 JUL 1887 by Jane M. Roscoe, Daniel Norley, Gilbert Howard, Levi Fitch, Walter A. Peck, O. G. Buckingham, Robert Bolton, Leslie Russell. The few stones readable some years ago were; James Davis, b. 21 AUG 1819, d. 6 FEB 1908?; David Carr d. 11 SEP 1874, 84 years, and also Joseph H. son of S & S Carr, d. FEB 1863, age 6 years, 5 months; Emma E. dau of G & SJ Howard, died 6 MAR 1864, age 12 years, 10 months; Sarah J. Howard, b. 8 JUN 1841, d 9 FEB 1890." - from Pioneer Families and History of Lapeer CO, MI, J.D. Ellis, page 230. Other confirmed burial, William H. Peck, son of Alfred Moore Peck & Mary E. (Taylor) Peck. According to some members of the Taylor family (some of whom were worked on the Luke Roscoe farm), the cemetery is the burial site for Jacobah Taylor and his wife Martha Swarthout Taylor who removed from NY to Lapeer Co in in the 1840s. Jacobah was a millwright who worked on the construction of the Lapeer Co Courthouse. Additional Comments: Photo taken by Hal Prentice.
