Gregory was born on March 23, 1958, in Traverse City, to Juanita (Stanley) and Glenn Aylsworth. Greg married Cindy Liegh Hays on May 4, 2005, at the Empire United Methodist Church in Empire. Greg faithfully served his country in the United States Army. He had been a heavy equipment operator and also owned and operated the Hide-a-way Bar and Grill in Curtis. Greg loved heavy equipment, was active in sports and sponsored a softball and pool team. He was an avid outdoorsman and was a member of the Empire United Methodist Church. Greg will be remembered as always being a leader and never a follower. Greg is survived by his wife, Cindy; his children, Christine Hagaman, Gregory A. Aylsworth Jr., Melissa White, Travers Aylsworth, Tara Aylsworth, Tamera Aylsworth, Aliesha Hays; step-children, Bucky and Jamie Hays and Patricia and Mary Bigelow; nine grandchildren; his mother, Juanita (Bud) Shanks of Empire; his father, Glenn (Jan) Aylsworth of Traverse City; brothers, G. Thomas Aylsworth of Glen Arbor and Warren Aylsworth of Maple City; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Greg was preceded in death by his sister, Gladys Aylsworth Hentschel; and his grandparents, Gladys and Alonzo Aylsworth, and Ethel and Vern Stanley. Visitation for Greg will take place today, Wednesday, Sept. 14, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Empire United Methodist Church. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at the church with The Rev. William Dye officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Empire. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations in Greg's name be directed to the American Cancer Society. The family is being served by Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, Traverse City.
