  IVA 'JEAN' DAVIS, 73, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, Sept. 12, 2004, 
at Munson Medical Center.
      Visitation will take place Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the 
Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
      Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at the 
funeral home.
      A complete obituary will appear in the Wednesday edition of the Traverse 
City Record-Eagle.

TRAVERSE CITY - Iva "Jean" Davis, 73, of Traverse City, died Sunday, Sept. 12, 
2004, at Munson Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
      She was born in Traverse City on Oct. 30, 1930, the daughter of Robert D. 
and Julia Wilma (Ruegsegger) Payne. On Sept. 9, 1950, she married Gordon O. 
Davis in Traverse City.
      Jean retired from the Grand Traverse County Register of Deeds in 1990 
after 15 years of service. She enjoyed bowling, playing golf and sewing. She 
truly loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
      Jean is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gordon O. Davis of Traverse 
City; her daughter, Linda (Randy) Marshall of Traverse City; her son, Alan 
(Luann) Davis of Canton; three grandchildren, Brittany Raetz of Traverse City, 
Janel (Dan) Heitzmann of Canton and Trevor Davis of Bloomfield; a brother, 
Gerald Payne of Traverse City; and several nieces and nephews.
      She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandson, Patrick Raetz.
      Cremation has taken place. The family will greet the public this evening, 
Sept. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
      A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 16, at the 
funeral home, with Rev. Tamara Williams officiating. Burial will take place in 
Maple Grove Cemetery, Empire.
      In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Iva Davis' name to the 
Central United Methodist Church and family services.
      Arrangements have been entrusted to the Traverse City Chapel of Covell 
Funeral Homes.
