TRAVERSE CITY RECORD EAGLE --- 24 June 1950
Employee of Hospital Dies -- Fred Gearing, 58, a former resident of Empire, 
died at Munson hospital here early this morning.
     Mr. Gearing was born May 7, 1892, at Empire, and lived there until 1944, 
when he came to Traverse City. He was employed at the Traverse City state 
hospital.
     He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ida Gould of Muskegon, and one brother, 
Norman Gearing of Empire. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gearing preceded him 
in death.
     Funeral services will be held from the Martinson-Sampson funeral home on 
Monday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with Rev. L. C. C. Grueber officiating. 
Burial will be made in the Maple Grove cemetery at Empire.

TRAVERSE CITY RECORD EAGLE --- 27 June 1950
Funeral Monday - Funeral services for Fred Gearing, age 58, of this city, a 
former resident of Empire, whose death occurred Saturday at Munson hospital, 
were conducted Monday afternoon at the Martinson-Sampson funeral home. 
Officiating was Rev. L. C. C. Grueber and interment was made in Maple Grove 
cemetery at Empire.
