He was born in Detroit on Jan. 10, 1917, the son of Richard and Caroline (Wollmersheuser) Larsen. On Nov. 22, 1941, he married Doris Madelyn Alspaugh in Detroit. Dick had been a beer salesman and deliveryman for more than 25 years in the Detroit area. He moved to Empire in 1973, where he worked for Paul Johnson's Orchard. He was an avid gardener, and especially enjoyed growing raspberries. Dick was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glen Arbor, the Masonic Lodge #580 F&AM in Allen Park and the Senior Citizens of Empire. Dick is survived by his wife, Doris Larsen; a daughter, Dorian (Frank) Mantei of Monroe; four grandsons, Richard (Kelly) Mantei of St. Augustine, Fla., and Jermey, Christian and Benjamin Mantei, all of Monroe; a great- granddaughter, Devin Rildey Mantei of St. Augustine; a sister, Lillian Peabody of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Barbara Ann, during childhood; and two brothers, William and Ernest Larsen. Visitation will be held today, May 5, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Bennett- Barz Funeral Home in Beulah. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 6, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Glen Arbor, with the Rev. Paul Schneider officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Empire.
