                                  LONG ILLNESS TAKES MRS.  JENNIE POWELL---
Death came Tuesday morning to Mrs. Jennie Powell, 75, of Benzonia, following a 
long illness. She had been a lifelong resident of Benzie and Leelanau counties. 
She was born August 29, 1875, at Glen Haven, the daughter of Roderick and 
Cornelia Dunn, pioneer settlers there. -- Surviving is the husband, Hiram L. 
Powell; a son, R. H. Powell of Detroit; one daughter, Mrs. Lydia Brown of 
Benzonia; three brothers, John Dunn of Glen Lake, James of Marion and Steve of 
Empire; also a sister, Mrs. Nellie Fortine of Honor. -- Funeral services will 
be held Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Beulah tabernacle with Rev. Rice 
officiating. Interment will be in the Maple Grove cemetery in Empire. 
Arrangements are by Bennetts.

                                             Teacher's Father Passes Tuesday 
Eve--Mr. Hiram L. Powell passed away April 12 at his home south of Benzonia 
where he was cared for by his daughter, Mrs. Lydia Brown.---Funeral 
arrangements for Saturday are incomplete. The body will be at Bennett's Funeral 
home, Benzonia, until 10 a.m. Thursday (today) and will be removed to his home.-
