Lyle was a retired truck driver for the Benzie County Road Commission. Born April 26, 1913, in Oneal, he was the son of Hosea Benjamin and Olive Jane (Brotherton) Pratt. In 1965, in Traverse City, he married the former Ardith Hammond. In 1978, in Frankfort, he married the former Jesse Haas. Survivors include stepdaughters, Darlene (Julius) Heniser of Frankfort and Katherine Anderson of Flint; stepsons, Paul Hammond of Honor, Jim Hammond of Frankfort, Gerald (Lois) Hammond of Beulah and Charles (Betty) Hammond of Traverse City; a step-daughter-in-law, Lois Morris of Tacoma, Wash.; and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Helen Bradford. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Bennett-Barz Funeral Home in Beulah with Rev. Kathryn Coombs officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home at the time of service. Burial will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Empire. Memorials may be directed to The Maples - Benzie County Medical Care Facility or to the charity of one's choice.
