PARKINSON, 84, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at his home. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. A complete obituary will appear in the Wednesday edition of the Record- Eagle. ------------------------------------------ TRAVERSE CITY RECORD EAGLE - 4 Dec. 2002 TRAVERSE CITY - Robert H. Parkinson, 84, of Traverse City, formerly of Lime Lake, died Dec. 1, 2002, at his home. Robert was born Oct. 28, 1918 in Capac, Mich., to Richard Thomas and Edna (Hunter) Parkinson. He married Doris M. Konneker on Nov. 16, 1940, in Detroit. Robert worked at the Detroit News for 43 years and retired in 1980. He was a member of the Empire United Methodist Church where he belonged to the Noon-Tiders men's club. Robert was a veteran of World War II, who served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He was a past commander of the American Legion Post 199, DAV, Empire Masonic Lodge #597, Valley of Grand Rapids and the Valley of Traverse City Scottish Rite, Tall Cedars #102 Royal Arch Masons and the Shrine Club of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. Survivors are his wife of 62 years, Doris M. Parkinson of Traverse City; two sons, Donald H. (Claire) Parkinson of Clarkston and Douglas (Bonnie) Parkinson of Maple City; two grandchildren; Todd Parkinson and Holly Negrilla and two great-grandchildren, Kyle Parkinson and Robbie Negrilla. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Donald and Jack Parkinson. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes. A Masonic funeral service will be conducted by the Empire Masonic Lodge #597 along with a Service of Remembrance at 3 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. The Rev. James W. Boehm will officiate. Interment will be at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Empire United Methodist Church.
