Born March 24, 1918, in Lake Linden, she was the daughter of Albert Drew. She married Stanley Allen in Taylor. Mildred was a very active member in many church organizations. She belonged to St. Philip Neri Catholic Church where she served for 30 devoted years as director of religious education. Mildred enjoyed knitting and made many sweaters and socks for her family. Survivors include her beloved husband, Stanley of Empire, a son, Ron J. (Carolyn) Allen of Empire, a granddaughter, Barbara, and a great-grandson, Kevin. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, a sister, and two sons, Leif and Robert. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Empire where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at the church; the Rev. Father Chad Zielinski will serve as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Philip Neri Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Allen, 87, of Empire, died on Thursday at Munson Medical Center. He was born on May 7, 1913, in Chicago, the son of Alex and Mary Ozorowicz. Stan had lived in Taylor for several years before moving to Empire in 1969. In Taylor, he married the former Mildred Drew. He owned and operated Allen's Alley gas station in Empire for 30 years and was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. He served as an usher at the church for over 30 years, was a member and past King Lion of the Empire Lions Club and was also a member of Rotary when he lived in Taylor. He is survived by a son, Ron J. (Carolyn Warnes) Allen of Empire; a granddaughter, Barbara (Randy) Hoeneise of Northport; a great-grandson, Kevin; and one sister. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Mildred, on July 3, 2000; a son, Robert; a step-son, Leif; his parents; one sister; and two brothers. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Empire with Fr. Chad Zielinski as Celebrant. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
