MeAtte b. 7 May 1938 d. 4 July 2000 ------------------------------------ GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY DEATH RECORD Shirley May MeAtte 4 July 2000 ------------------------------------ TRAVERSE CITY RECORD EAGLE Shirley May MeAtte Died July 4, 2000 TRAVERSE CITY - Shirley May MeAtte, 62, a lifelong resident of Traverse City, died Tuesday. Born May 7, 1938, in Empire, she was the daughter of Willard Joseph and Ida (McGarry) Gauthier. Shirley enjoyed bingo, karaoke, dancing and visiting the casinos. She found special pleasure in her children. Survivors include four children, Samuel Lonnie (Dorce) Odom of Traverse City, Rodney Allen (Angela) Odom of Hohenwald, Tenn., Ida Marie (Randall) Schaub of Traverse City, and Willard Lee MeAtte of Traverse City; six brothers and sisters, Wayne (Ginny) Gauthier of Traverse City, Mick (Tom) Darscheid of Kingman, Ariz., Janet (Larry) Tellis of Mohane Valley, Ariz., Patrick Gauthier of Traverse City, Donna (Bill) Blay of Marysville, and Mary Ellen (Nick) Metrick of Rochester, N.H.; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many dear friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Michael Gauthier. Visitation will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Traverse City Chapel of Covell Funeral Homes where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. A 'Celebration of Life' service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home; Father Paul Megge will officiate. Interment will be in St. Philip Neri Cemetery.
