The son of the late John and Sarah Scott, Gib was born on June 25, 1909, in Campbell, Neb. He enjoyed baseball, golf, and playing cards, and was active in the Empire Seniors meal site program, as well as the Wednesday Night Euchre Group. Gib also enjoyed attending, and acting as the mascot for, the Empire Jays women's softball league. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him. He is survived by his sister, Lucille Brandt of Cairo, Neb.; three sons, Dale (Pat) Scott of Oahu, Hawaii, Robert (Marie) Scott of Empire, and John Scott of Empire; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Kathryn; parents; and three brothers, Edward, Irving, and Rupert Scott. Cremation has taken place, and a funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2004, in St. Philips Neri Church in Empire, where the family will be present to greet friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathy may consider memorial contributions to Munson Hospice, Leelanau County Commission on Aging, or the Maple Valley Nursing Home.
