That a communication by good Road be established from the Maumee River to the interior of Michigan, is important that the Country may be more accessible for emigrants; and that encouragement may be given that will ensure a more extensive sale of public land. As a post road it is necessary; a mail Rout is established from Maumee to Adrian in Lenawee County, which is growing in importance, and has already become too burthensome to be conveniently conveyed on horseback,-and such is the insufficiency of the Road as to render its transportation almost impracticable. As a military Road, the geographical situation of the Country renders it obviously important. We therefore pray that your Hon. body will adopt measures for the continuation of the Black Swamp turnpike, from the Town of Maumee, by the way of Adrian in Lenawee County to the Detroit and Chicago turnpike.ÐAnd your Petitioners as in duty bound will ever prayÐ Dated January 1830 Names E.
