Funeral Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock standard time, at their residence. The death of Thos. J. Davis occurred this afternoon at 1:45 at his home No. 77 South Main street, from a cancerous affection, from which he had been suffering. His wife died but a short time ago. Funeral notice later. Dalpha Remmele was experimenting with a cannon Thursday, and in some way the cannon was prematurely discharged, filling Mr. Remmele's face full of powder. While this was exceedingly painful no permanent injuries will result. A Deerfield dispatch says that Leo Logue, aged 17, son of Wm. Logue, was drowned Wednesday night while swimming in the Raisin river. The body was recovered. Imogene P. Hunsdon widow of Chas. Hunsdon, formerly of Hudson but now of Oxford, Md., has been granted a widow's pension at $8.00 per month from September 19, 1900, and this accrued pension on basis of $25.00 per month. Invitations are out for the wedding July 11 of Miss Sarah Gimbert and Rudolph Hines, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Gimbert, on River Street. The marriage of Mabel Westgate, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Westgate, of Raisin, and Wm. Kennedy, of Holloway, took place Wednesday evening at 7:30, at the home of the bride's parents. The strangest accident that we have been called upon to narrate that happened yesterday was that which befell May, the sixteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy White, of 87 North Main street. While celebrating at her home a torpedo which she three on the walk bounded into her mouth, exploding as it did so. The tongue and membrane of the cheek were badly injured, and the mouth will be sore for some time. Dr. Stephenson was called. Together with the other marriage licenses printed in Wednesday's Free Press is one to James G. Fortress, of this city, and Jessie A. Gilbert, of Detroit. Mr. Fortress is the son of Mrs. F.E. Fortress, of 46 Treast street, and has for some time past been working at Detroit. We understand that A. Bennett will take up his residence in the Judd house, corner of Church and Winter streets, soon, and Miss Cook, a niece, will make her home there. Miss Helen Bruckner, for many years a housekeeper in the Applegate home, will act as housekeeper in the new home. George Snyder, aged 8, young son of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Snyder, who operate the Otis Clapp farm, east of the city, had the right thumb, last bone of large finger blown off about 7:30 last night by the explosion of a large cannon crracker in his hand. The cracker had been lit and thrown an hour before and failing to explode was left lying there. George happened to see it lying upon the ground and had no sooner picked it up than it exploded, badly mangling the hand. Dr. Stephenson, assisted by Dr. Esli Morden, rendered the necessary aid.
