O. Armstrong Dies At 77

HUDSON - Orville R. Armstrong, 77, of 706 Gilbert Road, rte. 1, Pittsford, died Saturday at the Torn Hospital in Hudson where he had been a patient one day.

He was born in Jefferson Township, Hillsdale County, May 25, 1890, the son of Charles and Emma Densmore Armstrong.

He had lived on Gilbert Road his entire life and had farmed all his life.  He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Pittsford, Golden Sheath member of the Pittsford Grange, and member of the Pomona Grange.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Jessie Kretzmar in 1947, one brother, an infant son and a grandchild.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Hans (Adah) VanderVlucht of St. Louis, Mrs. Nick (Loueze) VanderVlucht of St. Louis, Mrs. Darold (Cleo) Radar of Frontier, Mrs. Wayne (Lulu) Huffman of Boynton Beach, Fla., three sons, Loren of Hudson, Leo of Midland, Ross of Pittsford; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2 in the Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson.

The Rev. Marshall Rector will officiate with burial in the Leonardson Cemetery in Pittsford.

There will be a visitation at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 7 to 9.
