BOYNTON SUBMITTER: Sherry Harper Hamblen EMAIL: mamablue@home.com DATE: Jul 29, 1999 PASSWORD> SURNAMES: BOYNTON, McNEIL, CLARK, JACOB Tecumseh Herald, 20 June 1899, page 3 IRA A. BOYNTON Was born in Tecumseh, Michigan, July 10, 1836 and died suddenly of heart disease in Adrian, Mich., May 11, 1899. He belonged to a family of six children, only one of whom is living, Mrs. Mary Ann McNEIL, of Tecumseh, Mich. His two brothers, Valmore G. and Jeremy BOYNTON, were members of the Michigan conference. Both died about sixteen years ago. He was married July 14, 1872, to Miss Clarissa J. CLARK, of Deerfield. They had one son, Fred BOYNTON, of this city. Adrian has been their home since 1888. Bro. BOYNTON was converted and joined the M. E. Church in Tecumseh in 1870. He transferred his membership to Adrian. The condition of his health made it impossible for him to engage as actively in church work as in his earlier religious life. He was quiet and unassuming in manner, a lover of home. We are greatly comforted in the thought of the rest that remaineth for the people of God. Funeral services in charge of Rev. A. J. Bigelow, a former pastor, were held Sunday afternoon, May 14, in the home of the sister at Tecumseh, followed by the burial in the cemetery of his native town. C. L. Adams Note: Ira was the son of Moses BOYNTON and Sarah "Sally" JACOB/JACOBS b. 1800 Jefferson County, NY d. 7 Aug 1871 Lenawee County. -----------------------------------------------------
