Ray A. Case, age 81, of Adrian passed away Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008, at his home under the loving care of his wife and family. He was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Weston, MIch., the son of Luke and Choice (Boss) Case. Ray graduated from Sand Creek High School with the Class of 1944. He then served in the United States Coast Guard. On Oct. 2, 1954, Ray married Donna Jean Schadewald at North Blissfield Lutheran Church. Donna, his wife of 54 years, survives. Ray worked as a builder and was a partner in Lu-Case Builders. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Ray's passion was golf. He was a 50-year member of Woodlawn Golf Course, and had made a hole-in-one at three different courses in Lenawee County. Ray was also an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling until just recently. Most precious to Ray was his family. For the past 22 years, Ray and Donna have enjoyed travehng to Georgia to be with family for the holidays. In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by his son, Mark and his wife, Paige, of Savannah, Ga.; his two granddaughters, Chandler Arden and Allyn Lee, who were the love of his life; and two sisters, Joyce Woerner and her husband, Earl, of Morenci; and Betty Perry of Woodbum, Md. Also surviving is Howard Lucas, 40-year friend and business partner. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Norman, and his infant daughter, Jean Marie. The funeral service for Ray will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Adrian with the Rev. Joel Sarrault officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may visit Ray's family at the Wagley Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008 from 2 to 8 p.m. Contributions in memory of Ray may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund.
