Sept. 28, 1901 - pg 4 ROBERT VREELAND CLARK Another home was darkened Friday night by the entrance of death. Shortly before 8 o'clock Robert Vreeland Clark passed to the land beyond. The transition was peaceful, just the home going of a weary soul, weary of the ills of this life, at peace with the world in which he fain would have lingered, and at peace with his Saviour. Robert was born at Allen, Mich., August 7, 1878, but has lived most of his life in Adrian, his father dying nearly 20 yhears ago. He was educated in our public schools and would have graduated in '95 had it not been for ill health. Five years ago last June he contracted pneumonia and in the fall was taken with hemorrhages, necessitating a trip to a warmer clime. Five winters and two summers since he has passed in Florida, but to no avail. His natural abiity, coupled with his ambition, made it possible for him to assume the charge of the commercial department of Rollin's college at Winter Park, Fla., which position he filled with credit, instituting a banking department therein, giving the department a general impetus. In addition he taught the mandolin and violin and had charge of a dormitory. He was highly thought of by the management, by his co-laborers and the pupils. Since his home coming in the middle of May he has been failing gradually, though he struggled ever so bravely to regain his health. He has had every care, but his recovery was not to be. He died with tuberculosis. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Vreeland Clark, three half brothers and one half sister, namely: Geo. Clark, of Allen; Adelbert, operator at Bronson; Frank, of California, and Mrs. McTaggart, of Chicago. He was a dutiful, loving son, bright and full of life when well, highly esteemed by his friends. The services will be conducted from 87 East Maumee street, where Mrs. Clark now resides, at 2:30 standard time, Monday.
