KOLZ CREGER, 85, of Adrian, passed away on Oct. 6, 1997, in the presence of her family at Provincial House in Adrian. She was born feb. 15, 1912, at Weston, Mich. , to John E. and Clara (Pickles) Mason. She graduated from Sand Creek High School in 1929 and then worked at the McClellan Dime Store. On Nov. 26, 1936, she married Albert H. Kolz in Adrian. Gladys and Al ran Kolz's Corner gas station and grocery from 1945 until 1975. He preceded her in dealth in May of 1975. On July 18, 1980, she married John H. Creger in Adrian. He preceded her in death in August of 1993. Gladys was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Adrian and a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Blissfield. She was also a member of the Gayla Club, a group of former McClellan's employees that have met for more than 50 years. She enjoyed, and was very proud of, her grand-children and great-grandchildren. Keeping up on current events, reading, and traveling with her dear friends were things she enjoyed. She will be greatly missed, by her daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and David Noel of Adrian, Betty and Gordon Lawrick of Constantine, Mich; her grandchildren, Steven (Debra) Cagle, Tim Cagle, Scott (Heidi) Cagle, Dr. Christina (Phillip) Hoard of Plainwell and Cyndi (James) Shoemaker of Kalamazoo; her great-grandchildren, Jacob and Olivia Cagle, Travis and Taylor Cagle, all of Adrian, Benjamin Hoard of Plainwell, and Matthew and T.J. Shoemaker of Kalamazoo. She will be missed by her stepchildren and families, Jean and Richard Burns of Blissfield, Robert and Ellie Creger of Florida, Chuck Creger, and six step-grandchildren and their families. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, John Bell of Ottawa Lake, and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Rudolph and Walter Mason; and her sister Norma Bell. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 8, 1997, from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. at the Braun Funeral Home in Adrian. The funeral will be Thursday at 1;30 p.m. with Pastor William A. Gatz officiating. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to Sand Creek Schools, designated to the library; St. Joseph Academy Montessori Scholarship Fund, or St. John's Church.
