BODY OF SOLDIER
COMING FOR BURIAL


The body of Pvt. Marcellus J. Foster will arrive in Adrian Friday for 
reburial.  Private Foster entered the service Jan. 29, 1944.  He received his 
basic training at Ft. McClelland, Ala. with the Infantry.  After a short 
furlough spent at home in Adrian he returned to Ft. Meade, Maryland.  He was 
sent overseas in July 1944, and was killed in action in France Aug. 12, 1944.  
Pvt. Foster was a member of the 8th Regiment.

Private Foster was born April 15, 1908 in Cross Lanes, West Virginia.  He 
attended school at oak Hill, W. Va. Dec. 25, 1928 he married Agnes M. Harvey of 
Oak Hill.

Foster moved to Michigan in 1942 and was employed at Bancroft Market and the 
Jim Brown wire & Fence Co.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church.  Pvt. 
Foster is survived by his wife Agnes Foster; three daughters, Betty, Patricia 
and Norma; and tow sons, Jack and Thomas Foster of Adrian.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Harold Powers of Manitou Beach, and Mrs. 
Kelly O’Dell of Boomer, W. Va.; and two brothers, Thomas and Alfred Foster of 
Whipple, W.Va. 

The Funeral services will be at the Everiss Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 
four o’clock.  The Rev. H. B. Peters will officiate.  Burial will be in Lenawee 
Hills Memorial Park.  Military Services will at the grave with the Raymond R. 
Sebring post No. 241 American legion of Morenci, in charge.

NOTE:  Marcellus is buried in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park on Wolf Creek Hwy., 
Adrian, Lenawee County, Michigan. Was born in West Virginia and married there 
as well to Agnes Harvey.  Agnes Harvey resided in Lenawee County after the 
death of her first husband, Marcellus Foster.
