Our community has seldom met with a loss that seemed so much a personal affliction to all, as the one above recorded. Miss Casey came to this place in 1845, as a Teacher, an occupation that seemed so congenial her kindness of heart, and to a character that combined admirably the necessary firmness with a child-like sweetness of disposition, that she soon won and always retained, the hearty good will of all, and it was a matter of universal regret after the organization of the Union School, that the services of this favorite teacher could not be permanently secured. The deceased was born at York, March 23d, 1821, and married at this place October 19, 1848. She has been for many years a member of the Congregational Church, of most exemplary deportment, and dying leaves not merely a bereaved husband to mourn his desolated home, but the whole circle of her acquaintances, to join with husband and parents and sisters to lamenting the loss. One more she leaves--a little child, as yet unconscious of the terrible affliction he suffers in losing forever a mother's affection and a mother's care. dz
