Aged 72 years, 5 months and 14 days. She was the daughter of Peter Roberts, and was born in Sparta, Livingston County, New York, January 29th, 1880. In September 1828 she was married to Richard B. Gillespie who died June 16, 1870. In September, 1832 she removed from Sparta with her husband and two children to her home where she died, then entirely in its natural condition in a wild and sparsely settled country. Here she lived 48 years, devoting herself with most assiduous care and diligence to the comfort and happiness of her husband and children. She was retiring and quiet, industrious and patient, always cheerful and hopeful. Her acquaintance with her neighbors was not extensive, but all who knew her will not forget the uniform and constant benevolence and kindness of her intercourse with all. She was always cheerful and friendly a gentle, dutiful daughter, an amiable and loving sister, a considerate, prudent and affectionate wife, a devoted kind and loving mother, and a true and faithful friend. In all the relations of her long and useful life, she was never weary of doing all the good in her power to others, unmindful of self. She endured her last sickness with a cheerful and resigned spirit, and when the final time came she passed peacefully to immortal life. newpaper unknown
