GILLESPIE, 1927 SUBMITTER: Nancy Shier Crocetti EMAIL: nshier@aol.com DATE: Jun 02, 2000 PASSWORD> SURNAMES: GILLESPIE, EVERHART, CLEMENS, WHITE MRS. JOHN W. GILLESPIE Early in the morning of Jan. 24, 1927, the silent messenger sent from above, called the spirit of the beloved wife and mother, Mrs. Dorcelia Gillespie, to its eternal home. Surrounded by her loved ones she answered quietly and peacefully the call and passed on to be with Him. Mrs. Gillespie was the oldest child of Jacob and Orrissavilla Landon Everhart and was born at Massillon, Ohio, October 1st, 1847. She accompanied the family to Tecumseh, Michigan, in March 1869, and has since been a resident of this vicinity. December 21st, 1871 she was united in marriage to John W. Gillespie, who with the four children, Frank E. of Monroe, Leva T. at home, Clare R. of Clinton and Vivtor (Victor) H., on the home places, survives. Seven grandchildren will cherish the memory of the loved one. Two sisters, Mrs. A. E. CLEMENS, Colorado, and Mrs. Samuel WHITE of Adrian, also survive. Mrs. Gillespie was a faithful wife and a devoted mother who dearly loved her home. She was happiest when surrounded by those near and dear to her. She was a kindly neighbor who held all friendship in high regard and whose trustful faith in the master sustained her during her long and useful life. The last tribute of respect was paid on the afternoon of Jan. 26th. Beautiful flowers, that she had so dearly loved in life, surrounded her and Rev. Dr. Preston of St. Peter's Episcopal church officiated. Out of town friends were her from Adrian, Clinton, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Saline, Macon, Lansing, Hazlett, Holloway, Blissfield and Macon newspaper unknown.
