Woodrow was the youngest child of a family of 15 children, nine boys and six girls, one brother, Gurney Guy having preceded him in death. "A precious one from us has gone, A voice we loved is still; A place is vacant in our home, That never can be filled. God in His wisdom has recalled, The one his love had given; And though his body slumbers here, His soul is safe in Heaven." Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. G. B. Halsey of Williamston, MI; Mrs. Bettie Halsey and son Merle; Mrs. Lester Brown and daughter Genevieve; Mr. and Mrs. henry Gallant and little graddaughter; Mrs Catherine Lutz; Mrs. Fenton and Henry Ehlinger all of Addison; Mr. and Mrs. Leon Gallant and little daughter of Jackson; Mrs. John Gallant, Jr., of Lansing and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gallant of Coldwater ------------------------------------------- Adrian Daily Telegram - February 9, 1939 - pg. 6 col. 4 Mrs. John Gallant (Nellie Maude Halsey) (Special to the Telegram) Hudson, Feb. 9 -- Mrs. Nellie Gallant, aged 64 years, the wife of John Gallant, died at 12:30 o'clock this morning in her home on North Maple Grove Avenue a half hour after suffering a heart attack. Mrs. gallant is survived by her husband John; eight sons Lester of Wapakoneta, OH; Rex and John of Jackson; Ray of Flint; Leon of Ann Arbor; Bruce of Ithaca; Thomas of Tecumseh and Harry at home; six daughters - Mrs. Bruce Lighthall of davison; Mrs. Irma Shock of Flint; Mrs. Eva dunlop of Jackson; Mrs. Dorothy Blaker and Mrs. doris Miller both of Hudson and Mrs Gladys Grime of Shreveport, LA; 37 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves two brothers george Halsey of Jackson and Dwight Halsey of Cement City. She was born June 20, 1874, in Woodstock township and had lived all her life in Lenawee county, residing in Hudson the last 30 years. She was a member of the Baptist church and the Royal Neighbors of America. The funeral services are to be held at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Charles E. Brown & Son Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. T. A. Green. The burial is to be in Maple Grove cemetery. The body is to be at the home until Sunday morning. ----------------------------------------- Adrian Daily telegram - April 10, 1929 - pg 6 col 3 William Henry Gallant (Special to The Telegram) Addison, April 10 - William Henry gallant, aged 57 years, died suddenly of a heart attack this morning at 6:30 o'clock. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Cora Gallant; one son, Charles of Bryan, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs. Lyle terpenny of Jackson; one sister, Mrs. F. H. Murphy of Los Angeles, California; three brothers, John of Hudson; Joseph of Edgerton, OH and Isaac whose address is not known and four grandchildren. Gallant Hudson -- Mrs. Malvina A. Erickson Gallant, 73, of 505 South Church Street, died Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Thorn Hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Gallant was born September 12, 1893, at Morris, Minnesota. She married dwight G. Gallant March 27, 1919, at Hillsdale. He survives. Other survivors are two sons, Richard of North Baltimore, OOH and Jack of Lyons, OH; a daughter Mrs. Glenn (Mary Jane) Hardisty of Mishawaka, IN; five brothers Ed and raymond Erickson of Minneapolis, Albert and Anton Erickson of Benson, MN and Arthur Erickson of South Bend, IN; five sisters, Mrs. A. K. (Florence) Holm of Menson, Mrs. Glenn (June) Hackett of Albany, GA, Mrs. C.A. (Lilly) Lowrance of Scotts Bluff, NE, Mrs. Andrew (Evelyn) Anderson of Glendale, CA and Mrs. Leo (Blanche) Langsdorf of South Bend, IN and ten grandchildren. Mrs Gallant was a member of the first Congregational Church in Hudson. The body is at the Eagle Funeral Home, Hudson. Gallant, 80 , of 505 S. Church St., Hudson died suddenly yesterday afternoon at his home. He was born Feb. 5, 1896, in Scott, Ohio to Bry and jennie (Benton) Gallant. On March 29, 1919, he married Melvina Erickson in Hillsdale and they lived in Hudson since 1919. She preceded him in death in October, 1966. Mr. Gallant was the retired superintendent of public works for the city of Hudson, a position in shich he had served for 20 years. he was an Army veteran of world War I, a memeber of the Congregational Church in Hudson, and a member of American legion Hannon-Calvin Post 180. Surviving are two sons, richard of Findlay, OH and Jack of Bryan, OH; one daughter, Mrs. Glenn (Mary Jane) Hardesty of Mishawaka, IN; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the eagle Funeral Home, Hudson, with the Rev. T. R. Dolson officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery with members of the Hannon-Calvin Post of the American Legion conducting graveside services. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. ------------------------------------ Adrian Daily Telegram - Thursday, February 5, 1976 - pg 15 col 4 Infant Gallant Two-month-old Bridgett Marie Gallant, daughter of Danny and Dorothy (Rose) Gallant of 502 Northwestern drive, Adrian, was dead on arrival yesterday at Bixby Hospital. the infant was born Nov. 28, 1975. She is survived by one brother, danny at home; grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Don Gallant of Adrian and Mrs. Hazel Rose of Adrian; great-grandparents Mrs. Harriet Gallant of Adrian and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Barker of Fowlerville and several uncles and aunts. The funeral will be Friday at the Braun Funeral Home, Adrian. Burial will be at Oakwoodd Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today. ___________________________________________________________________________________ Adrian Daily Telegram - September 20, 1954 - pg 5 col 6 John Norton GALLANT; Sr. (Special to The Telegram) Hudson, Sept. 20 -- John Norton GALLANT Sr., 91 years old, died sometime Sunday night at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Doris BOWERS of 4750 Sand Creek Highway, Route 1, Adrian.  Coroner Edward Braun was called and ruled death the result of a heart attack. Mr. GALLANT was born Sept., 9, 1863 (paper says 1963), in Larue, Ohio and had lived many years in Hudson while employed as a foreman for the Cincinnati Northern Railroad.  He had made his home with his daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. BOWERS for the last six and a half years. He is survived by seven sons, Lester of Wapakoneta, OH; Rex and Bruce of Jackson; Ray and Henry of Flint; Leon of Detroit and Thomas of Adrian; six daughters, Mrs. Isma SHOCK and Mrs. Ruth GLANN of Flint; Mrs. Dorothy BLAKER and Mrs. BOWERS of Adrian; Mrs. Gladys GRIMES of Zone, Ohio and Mrs. Eve CAROTHURS of Jackson; 125 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Grace MURPHY of Los Angeles, Cailifornia. The Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Charles E. Brown & Son Funeral Home in Hudson.  The Rev. Francis Mitchinson will officiate and burial will be in Maple Grove cemetery.  The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesday. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Adrian Daily Telegram - September 27, 1944 - pg 6 col 5 Charles N. GALLANT (Special to The Telegram) Hudson, Sept. 27 --  Charles N. GALLANT, 54 years old, died early this morning in his home on East Main Street.  Mr. GALLANT was born July 7, 1890, in Scott, Ohio, and had lived in Hudson the last few years.  He was a section foreman for the Cincinnati Northern railroad. He is survived by the widow Mrs. Mary GALLANT, three daughters, Mrs. Stanley CASCIA of Tampa, FL, Mrs. Dale PAXON and Miss Mary GALLANT both at home; two sons, Pfc. Charles GALLANT in Arkansas and Pvt. Alfred GALLANT overseas; his mother Mrs. Cora GALLANT of Jackson and one sister Mrs. Catherine TURPENING of Jackson. GALLANT, 73, a resident of the Lenawee County Medical Care facility, died Tuesday night. He was born April 29, 1909 in Hudson to John N. and Nellie Maude (HALSEY) GALLANT. Surviving are three sisters, Doris BOWERS of Adrian; Ruth WALKER of Flint and Eva of Jackson. He was preceded in death by nine brothers and three sisters.
