He was born May 26, 1907 in Ridgeway Township to Jared and Mary (WELLIVER) VAN VLEET. On Dec. 29, 1939, he married Ruth ANDERSON in Adrian, and she survives. Mr. VAN VLEET was retired from farming. A lifelong resident of Tecumseh, he graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1926. He was a member of the Tecumseh Grange, Lenawee Pomona, and the State Grange. In addition to his wife, survivors include a son, Robert VAN VLEET of Farmington Hills; a brother, Harley VAN VLEET of Seminole, Fla.; a step-sister, Bertha ALLISON of Pontiac; and a granddaughter. Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Kenneth HOWARD officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeway Cemetery.
