Deceased was born in Fayette, Seneca County, New York, settling in the township of Medina, this county. He afterwards lived in Dover, from whence he moved one year ago last spring to the farm where he died. He has been confined to the house most of the time for the past year, the last time he went out being on the 18th inst., when he was taken, at his own request, and with considerable difficulty, to the cemetery at Blissfield to view the spot were he expected to soon to be laid. His disease was consumption, from which he was a great, but patient sufferer. Though he had never made any profession, his dealings with his fellow man had been such that he was enabled to repeatedly assure his family and friends that death had no terrors for him, that he was ready and willing to die, and preferred the peace of the grave to his sufferings here. He was married thirty years ago to Miss Charlotte Backman a playmate of his childhood, by whom he had four children (perhaps children living at the time of his death), three boys, and one girl, all grown up and married expect one, and all of whom with the devoted wife and mother were present during his last illness and at the time of his death. The funeral will be held at the house tomorrow (Friday) morning at ten o'clock a.m." ----------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities as long as this message remains on all copied material.
