Kuney, Jr. From the Adrian Daily Telegram, September 27, 1912 "James S. Kuney, Jr. third son of James Kuney, Sr. was born on the Kuney homestead in Madison Township, Lenawee County, Michigan, February 2, 1879 and died near his home September 19, 1912. Born and raised in the country, he was taught the art of tilling the soil by a successful father, and so chose his life's work, the work of his father. On September 17, 1904, he was united in marriage to Miss Mabel Shannon and settled on the homestead. To this union, one child was born. After 4 years of wedded life death came into the home and took away the beloved wife. On August 4, 1909, he was again united in marriage to Miss Edith Humble of Marshfield, Wis. But death was near at hand and entered the same home with in 2 months of the wedding day and took away a beloved wife. This sad fate broke up the home and on November 29, 1909, he sailed for Europe, returning February 13, 1910, making his home with his mother at 138 West Maumee Street, Adrian until December 13, 1911, when he again was united in marriage to Miss Lena Wickham and settled on a farm in West Madison Township, where he lived until death occurred. He leaves to mourn his demise his wife Lena B. Kuney, and one child, Harold of Adrian, besides an aged mother, Mrs. James Kuney, Sr., a brother Emmett Kuney, who lives on the old homestead, and one sister Mrs. A. L. Trada, who lives with her mother at 128 West Maumee Street, Adrian and a large number of friends. He was ever a faithful, trustworthy husband and companion, a loving and gentle father, a kind and obliging neighbor and will be greatly missed by those who came to know him best. Always read to lend a helping hand in time of need, and always of good cheer, though his life's road was very rough. In 1906 he united with the First Baptist Church of Adrian, where he was still one o its members until he was called so suddenly to the home above. The funeral was held Sunday, September 22, at the home of his mother at 128 West Maumee Street, Adrian. Rev. Dr. Gray and Rev. Edwin Simpson officiating. Interment at Oakwood. ----------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities as long as this message remains on all copied material.
