AVERY Mrs. Jennie AVERY, nee LEE, beloved wife of F.D. AVERY, departed this life at her home in Tecumseh Sept. 28, 1901. She was born in Cambridge, Mich., Aug. 8, 1850 and was married to F.D. AVERY July 12, 1874. In September of that year the newly married couple moved to New York State and four years later returned to Cambridge, Mich. In 1888 the family moved to Tecumseh, where they have since resided. Five children have been born to them, two of which died in infancy. Three children, Clarence, Jessie and Lisle, a daughter-in-law, a husband, an only sister, Mrs. J. HAND of Cambridge, and a very large circle of friends mourn her loss. Mrs. AVERY united with the Cambridge Baptist church about thirty years ago. When the family moved to Tecumseh she identified herself with the First Baptist church, of which she was a member at the time of her decease. She was one of the most active members, always doing her work with cheerfulness and great efficiency. Mrs. AVERY was also a member if the Tecumseh W.R.C. and at one time president of the society and always active in the work of the society. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and Research Circle. She was a faithful wife and mother, a generous, genial, energetic soul. That she was loved by all is evidenced by the very large attendance at her funeral, which was held at the Baptist church. The services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Leslie BOWER. Bible lesson, Psalm 90 and I Cor. 15:1-23. Text of sermon Rev. 14:23. The choir sang "Drifting Away" and "Nearer my God to Thee." Her body rests in Brookside cemetery, her spirit is in the Father's house. The mourners go about the streets. She is gone up to the celestial gardens. (Followed by a poem which is not included.)
