Olive was born April 5, 1915, in Johnstown, Pa., the daughter of Merton and Jenny Lee (Sensabaugh) Gillin. On May 7, 1934, she married David Mack in Cumberland, Md., and he preceded her in death Aug. 10, 1998. Olive was a kind and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved gardening, bird watching, cooking, traveling and fishing. She worked at the Bomber Plant in Ypsilanti, Quaker Oats in Tecumseh and worked alongside her husband as they owned and operated “The Diner” in downtown Tecumseh for 25 years. After retirement they moved to Boyne City in Northern Michigan, traveled and wintered in Florida. Olive is survived by her children, Lorene (Bud) Young of Beckley, W.Va., Gary (Lura) Mack of Tecumseh, Bonnie (Frank) Smith of Tecumseh and Marilyn (Larry) Snyder of Britton; siblings, Audrey Rorabaugh, Isabel Randolph and Jack Gillin; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery, Tecumseh. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Condolences to the family may be made online at www.pursefuneralhome.com. Additional Comments: I Recall: I recall the time a squirrel found it's way into their home on Van Buren St, Tecumseh, Michigan. Adding to the excitement was a white poodle doing what comes natural to a dog. My husband went over to aid in getting the squirrel outside where it belonged. Finally, after a bit, the squirrel was outside. The poodle didn't calm down for a couple of days due to the scent of the squirrel in their home. The only true damage was not to their home, only to the curtains in an attempt of the squirrel to escape. No one was hurt, the dog was not injured, just traumatized through it's attempt to save the day. www.findagrave.com: Memorial # 80464937 File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/lenawee/obits/m/mack17276nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 3.0 Kb
