In the issue of the Adrian Daily Telegram Oren D "Moon" Robinson Adrian Daily Telegram August 25, 2001 ~~~~~~ Adrian: Oren D. "Moon" Robinson, 101, of Adrian, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2001 at his farm. He was born March 13, 1900 in Fulton County, Ohio, the son of Henry W. and Sarah (Sands) Robinson. Oren has been a resident of Adrian since he was 7. He joined the Michigan National Guard in Adrian when he was just a young adult, serving bravely and honorably in the Alsace Sector, Oiseuise, off Meuse-Argonne in France, and with the army in Germany during WWI. After returning to the states, Oren took employment with American Chain & Cable during WWII, while at the same time operating a farm. In April of 1920 he married Bessie M. Gephart in Adrian. She preceded him in death in May 1981. He has also served as Officer of the Day for perhaps hundreds of military funeral rites for veterans in Lenawee County. Oren's trademark was smoking cigars. He was an avid euchre player and always played with the members of the DAV #20 on Thursday afternoons, which he was a life member and also a life member of the VFW Annis-Fint Post #1584. He will always be remembered as being a conscientious gentleman and for the admiration and praise he was given. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Oren is survived by his daughters, Doris Currie, Boynton Beach, FL, Norma J. Allen, Adrian, Oneita Burgess, Rupert, ID; son. John H. "Jack" and his wife Joan Robinson, Tipton; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by daughter, Jeannette Lockhart, a child in infancy, and two grandchildren. Funeral services for Oren will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at the Braun Everiss Wagley Funeral Home with the Rev. Geoffrey Koglin officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. at Royalton Township Cemetery in Lyons, Ohio, with full military rites by the DAV #20 and VFW Annis-Fint Post #1584. Friends may visit the funeral home on Sunday, from 6- 8 p.m. and on Monday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions in Oren's name may be made to the DAV.
