She was born on July 12, 1912, in Deerfield, Mich., the daughter of Herman and Hattie (Prielipp) Piotter. Doris was married to Erwin McMahon in 1930 and he preceded her in death in 1940. She married again in 1942 to Arthur Breningstall and he also preceded her in death during World War II in 1944. Doris later married Harry Martolock in 1948 and he too preceded her in death in 1953. Doris worked as a secretary for the Deerfield Public School System, from 1954 until retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palmyra, where she was active in the Friendship Circle and also the Charity Circle. She belonged to the Birthday Club where they played cards often. She was also a member of the Northwest Homemakers Extension and was an avid bowler. Surviving are her three daughters, Loretta (Mason) McWilliams of Deerfield, Judy “JJ” Ganun of Adrian and Jeannine (Paul) Marks of Ida; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren; and two sisters, Gertrude Kapnick and Velma (John) Martinus, both of Adrian. In addition to her husbands, Doris was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Helen Fox; and three brothers, Ernest, Arnold and Leland Piotter. Funeral services for Doris will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palmyra with the Rev. Gary Leking officiating. Burial will follow in Deerfield Cemetery in Deerfield. Visiting hours will take place on Friday from 2-8 p.m. at the Tagsold Funeral Home in Blissfield. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Hospice of Lenawee or the Lenawee Medical Care Facility. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
