ROBERTS Obit Tecumseh Herald March 2, 1922 H.B. ROBERTS CALLED BY DEATH H.B. ROBERTS, a well known and highly respected resident of this locality, was called to his reward Sunday, aged 79 years. He had been in failing health several months, his three daughters taking turns in caring for him. Henry Brant ROBERTS was born in Sparta, Livingston County, NY, February 28, 1843, the third son of Jacob G. and Sarah ROBERTS. He came to Tecumseh when a boy of eleven years and with is family made their home on the farm where he died. He attended the Tecumseh high school and played in both the orchestra and band. During the Civil War he served in the commissary department, most of the time at City Point, VA. When a young man he taught in the Culbertson and Waldron schools. In the early ‘80s he purchased a farm on the Clinton road where he resided until 1908, moving from there to the old homestead after the death of his father. Mr. ROBERTS is survived by the three daughters: Mrs. Bertha ANGLEMEYER of Chicago, Mrs. Blanche THAYER of Grand Rapids and Mrs. Hazel McLACHLIN of Monroe. He also leaves three grandchildren and one nephew, Lynn C. ROBERTS of Toledo, Ohio. Mr. ROBERTS was a refined, courtly gentleman, reserved to a high degree but a home-loving man and a most devoted father. The funeral of Mr. Roberts was held from the home Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J.F. KISKADDEN officiating. Mrs. S.W. BOYCE and Wilbur BOYCE sang two beautiful hymns, “Nearer My Home Today” and “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere.” The bearers were Glen THAYER, Leon McLACHLIN, John E. MURPHY, Willis SCHREDER, Wesley KEYSER and George SANFORD. The remains were laid at rest in Brookside at the family lot. Present for the service from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Glen THAYER and son of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Bertha ANGLEMEYER and daughter Leona of Chicago, Mr. and Mrs. Leon McLACHLIN and son of Monroe, Mrs. James R. DAVIS of Lansing, Mrs. Mary HALLADAY, Frank ANGLEMEYER, Mr. and Mrs. Henry WAY, Mr. and Mrs. Ed.
