Adrian newspaper (unknown) June 11, 1897 REMIGUIS RECK Oct. 1, 1845-June 10, 1897 Age 51, died at 5:15 yesterday afternoon at his home on Front St. of consumption, after an illness of about five months. He was a butcher by vocation and had resided in the city of Adrian for 27 years. He was a member of the German Workman's Society. He leaves a widow and five children. The funeral mass will be held from St Joseph's Catholic Church at 9 o'clock sun time, on Saturday. CHLOEY ULRICH RECK March 3, 1853-Oct 21, 1923 A former resident died suddenly Sunday afternoon as she was about to enter St Mary's Church at Caraghar, Ohio for the Vesper service. A physician who was summoned immediately stated death was caused by apoplexy. Mrs. Reck was born in Wuerttemberg, Germany March 30, 1853 and came to this country when aged one year. She has always lived in this city (Adrian) from that time until two years ago, when she went to live with her daughter, Mrs. David Trumbull of Caraghar. She is survived by five children: Joseph A, Peter C, Stephen J Reck, and Mrs. Joseph Libs (Catherine) of Adrian, and Mrs Anna Trumbull of Caraghar, Ohio. Her husband (Remiguis Reck) preceeded her in death 26 years ago. The body is to be brought to the city (Adrian) Tuesday afternoon to the home of Joseph A Reck, 813 E. Maumee St. The funeral services are to be held at St Joseph's Catholic Church, of which she was a former communicant and member of the Christian Mother's Society. The burial is to be made at St Joseph's Cemetery. Unknown paper and date Clemens Vogel, 85, Is Dead of Injuries His Son Alvin Was Seriously Hurt in Same Accident Clemens Vogel, on e of Adrian's well known German residents, died this morning at 5:15 o'clock in the Emma L. Bixby hospital from injuries received in an automobile accident last Saturday morning. Mr. Vogel suffered broken bones and deep lacerations and because of his advanced age was unable to recover from the shock and injuries. He was aged 85 years. Mr. Vogal came to Adrian directly on landing in America from Andel_nwgen, Wurttenburg, Germany, his birthplace, on May 16, 1870, and has since lived here. He was a tinsmith by trade and only recently retired from active labors. He operated his shop at 30_ Ormsby Street and at the time of his 50th wedding anniversary in May 1932 he was still actively engaged in the business and said he had no intention of retiring as long as is good health continued. Mr. and Mrs. Vogel were married May 16, 1887, in St. Joseph's Church in Adrian but not in the present edifice. He has continued a faithful communicant of that church and was a member of the St. Joseph's Society and the Holy Name Society of that church. Mrs. Vogel died last November 8 and Mr.Vogel was also preceeded in death by one daughter Sister Cletus Marie, a member of the Catholic Order of Dominican nuns. Surviving are three daughters and eight sons Mrs. Joseph Strack, Sister Helen Grace of the Dominican Order and Mrs. Harry Fischer of Adrian, George Vogel of Butte, Mont., Frank of Port Huron, Edwin of Detroit, Henry, Joseph, Carl, Alvin and Cletus Vogel all of Adrian. Seventeen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Alvin Vogel was with his father when their car was struck by another car on US 112 near Somerset Center last Saturday and he too suffered serious injuries and is a patient in the Bixby hospital. The body will be at the Bogt & Schwartz Funeral HOme until Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock when it will be moved to the family residence at 311 Ormsby Street. The members of the Holy Name Society and the St. Joseph's Society will recite the Rosary Thursday evening at 8 o'clock at the home. A requiem mass will be conducted Friday morning at 9 o'clock in St. Joseph's Church by the Rev. A.C. Schneider. The burial will be in St. Joseph's cemetery.
