VANVLEET Tecumseh-Ruth I. VANVLEET, 80, of Tecumseh, died Nov. 28, 1994, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital, Ann Arbor. She was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Tecumseh, the daughter of Frederick and Mary (HOUSEMAN) ANDERSON. On Dec. 29, 1939, she married Glenn L. VANVLEET in Adrian. He preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 1989. Ruth was a lifelong resident of the Tecumseh area and graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1931. She worked in the cafeteria and as a bus driver for the Tecumseh Public Schools for several years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh and the Tecumseh Grange. She is survived by one son, Robert and his wife Susan VANVLEET of Farmington; one granddaughter, Melissa; and two sisters, Helen KAPPLER of Clinton and Lois and her husband George NICHOLLS of Jackson. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with the Rev. Richard MORTIMER officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeway Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the First Presbyterian Church of Tecumseh. jic
