She was the daughter of Fredrick and Fredricka Zilke. In 1877 she was united in marriage to Gottlieb Schadewalt, and in 1893 they came to this country and settled in Blissfield Township, and have always lived in Blissfield and Deerfield townships. She had been in failing health for four years, but her ailment was not alarming until January 28, when a physican was summoned and pronounced it a complication of diseases. All that willing hands and loving hearts could do was done, but to no avail and she passed peacefully away Wednesday morning, June 5, 1918 at five o'clock. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, and six children, Mrs. Anna Piotter, Mrs. Josephine Bahlka, Mrs. Minnie Creger, and Frank, Paul and William Schadewalt; also thirteen grandchildren. The funeral was held at the Zion Lutheran church, Saturday, June 8 at 2p.m., Rev. F.H.C. Schultz officating, speaking in both German and English. She was laid to rest in the Deerfield cemetery amid a profusion of flowers.
