County Line Rd. just south of Aten Rd. in Lenawee County. Killed was Kenneth L. Schadewald, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schadewald Jr. of 4535 S. County Line Rd., Deerfield. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Don Dunmore, Lenawee County medical examiner. His motorcycle collided head-on with a motorcycle driven by Michael H. Strahan, 18, of 3500 Alcott Rd., Riga. Young Strahan is listed in fair condition today in Toledo Hospital,Toledo. A passenger on the Strahan motorcycle, Mary Alcott, 17, of 515 Keegan Rd., Deerfield, was treated in Toledo Hospital. State Police of the Blisse1d post investigated and reported the Schadewald cycle was northbound and the Strehan cycle was southbound on S. County Line Rd. Troopers said the motorcycles collided head-on in the middle of the road. They said the road is straight where the accident happened. Funeral services for Mr. Schadewald will be held at 1:50 p.m. Monday in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Blissfield, with the Rev. C. A. Bormann officiating. Burial will be in Deerfield Cemetery. Friends may call after 7 tonight and until noon Monday at the McNeil and Spencer Funeral Home, Deerfield. The son of William and Rhea Schadewald Jr., he was born Nov. 7, 1953 in Deerfield. He lived in Deerfield all his life and would have been a senior at Deerfield High School. He was a member of the Varsity Club at the school, and named most valuable player of the school’s 1969 basketball team. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Surviving are his parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Schadewald Sr. of Blissfield and Mr. and Mrs. Ival Shirley of Phoenix, Arizona.; brothers, Larry of Petersburg and Frederick at home; two sisters, Mrs. Gary (Barbara) Murdock of Petersburg and Mrs. Roy (Jauet) Welbusch of Saline, a niece, and four nephews.
