SIMPKINS CLOTHA ELLEN SIMPKINS MRS. A. B. SIMPKINS (Clotha Ellen SIMPKINS), daughter of Joel W. and Martha E. Lane CORNETT was born near Houston, IN, Feb. 19, 1878, and departed this life at her home in Ogden Township, Michigan, Nov. 20, 1943, age 65 years, nine months and one day. She is survived by her husband A. B. SIMPKINS, to whom she was married Mar. 20, 1898, at Brownston, IN, also two sons and two daughters, Earl of Sand Creek and Everett of Adrian, Mrs. Otis PIFER and Mrs. Lowell PIFER of Ogden Township. One son Eithel preceded her in death in 1935. Fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchile, one brother Virgil CORNETT, of Roxana, IN, and three sisters Mrs. James BROWNING of Riverside, CA, Mrs. Cleve WILBUR of Elizabethtown, IN, and Mrs. Earl ARBUCKLE of Sand Creek also survive. Many other relatives and friends mourn her loss. The family came to Michigan Feb. 17, 1915. While a young girl she was united with and was baptised in the Methodist Church. She has lived a Christian life and made testimony before her departure that she was resigned and at peace with her Maker. She was a kind, loving mother and a dutiful wife, maintaining a home which was open to the community. Many neighbors visited this fine mother and friend for her kindly advice and cheerful disposition. She loved her home and her family, was happy to remain there with them and was ever ready to go to the assistance of a needy neighbor or friend. She knew her illness and its fatal results but carried on bravely and kindly; on the day of her departure she felt the approach and discussed it with her husband, stating that all was well. She will be greatly missed by her family and a wide circle of friends. The funeral was held Monday afternoon at 2:30 in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Otis PIFER at Metamora, OH. The Rev. Mr. Englebretson of the Ogden U.B. Church officiated. The burial was in the zion cemetery. The bearers were Hervey Knieriem, Chad WILSON, Ed RIES, Fred SCHAEFFER, Fred GRITZMAKER and Oliver HARSH.
