On Tuesday afternoon, while preparing to attend a funeral (that of Willis E. Clark) it was the fate of Mrs. Seymour B. Treadwell, residing three miles northeast of Morenci, to herself pass from life and be mourned by friends and relatives. Such is life-and death! The peculiar coincidence-the shocking sadness of her passing away,-made a profound impression on the community and occasioned much sorrow. Mr. Treadwell had gone to the barn to get the horse in readiness for coming to Morenci. Upon re-entering the house he heard some peculiar sounds, as of distress, and on investigating was horrified to find his wife prostrate upon the floor in the pantry, and the only word he could clearly hear articulate was "camphor." He gave the alarm at his daughter's home nearby, and Dr. T. C. Ewart was summoned. No medical aid could save her, and in a couple of hours she breathed her last, apoplexy being the immediate cause of her death. Mrs. Treadwell had been in her usual good health, but it appears she had gone into the pantry for a remedy on account of some indisposition at the time.
