All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ Fountain Valley, Ohio--After much suffering Abram VanValkenburg died last Sunday, October 26, 1891, aged 71 years, six months and 17 days. He was born April 8, 1820 in Kinderhook, Columbia County, New York. He was left an orphan at an early age when he went to live with Daniel G. Smith until of age. Of him he learned the mason trade, which he more or less followed until a few years ago. He joined the Christian church in 1844. His marriage to Nancy Hale occurred on January 5, 1843. They moved to Ohio in 1847, settling up on the farm where he lived until his death. To them were born six children. Two died when young, Hannah Adele and Adrian. The surviving children with their mother, are Smith A. VanValkenburg, of Gorham; Mary E. Salsbury, Morenci; Abram VanValkenburg of Ingham county, Mich.; Wellington VanValkenburg, living upon the old farm. Also there are three grandchildren and one great grand child. Deceased was a kind parent and a good neighbor, always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a believer in Christianity and his last words were "all is well." He will be greatly missed in the community where for many years he had resided. The funeral services were conducted at the Congregational church in Morenci and burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci. dz
