Benton Welty - Funeral services will be held on Sunday, for Pvt. Benton Welty at Blissfield, Michigan. His body has just arrived home from Europe. He was inducted on August 10, 1944 at the age of 20, became an expert rifleman in the infantry where he served under General Patton, and was killed in the Battle of the Bulge on March 7, 1945. Pvt. Welty was the only son of George Welty, of Blissfield, Mich., and the grandson of the late Mrs. Mary Welty. of Weltytown, Mt. Pleasant township. The latter had seven grandsons in the service. The others were Benton Welty Kimmell, Kenneth Welty Kimmell, Duane Welty, Maurice Welty, Billy Welty Struble and Paul Welty, all of whom returned. Besides his parents, Pvt. Welty is survived by his only sister, Ruth.
