Obituaries

 

James Owen Whitehead

 

 

TIPTON, Mich. - 

James Owen Whitehead, age 72, of Tipton, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at St. 
Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor.  He was born May 26, 1936, in Dearborn 
Township, Mich., to Floyd and Rachel (Walls) Whitehead. On June 18, 1960, he 
married Janice Webb in Garden City, Mich., and she survives. James had been 
employed by the Ford Motor Co. in Wixom, Mich. for 33 ½ years, retiring Oct. 
1, 1996. He enjoyed farming, his Harley motorcycle, fishing, boating, hunting 
and most of all spending time with his family.

 

In addition to his wife, Janice, he is survived by three children, Victor 
(Sue) Whitehead of Tipton, Jackie Tabbert of Adrian and Judy (Brad) Williams 
of Tipton; a brother, Virgil (Jenny) Whitehead of Onsted; a sister, Lucy Lunch 
of Georgia; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Jason, Chelsie, Callie, Harley, 
Hailey, Hayden and Owen; and two great-grandchildren, Ethan and Mara. He was 
preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.

 

Funeral services for James will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at 11 a.m. 
at the Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh, with Pastor Tom McMichael officiating. 
Burial will be in Franklin Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 2 
to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home, Tecumseh.
