In infancy he was baptized by the Rev. Mr. Mueller and later in life was confirmed by the Rev, Mr. Schultz. His father died when he was eight months of age and since that time he had made his home with his grandfather, Gottlieb Schadewald, where he was tenderly cared for. At the age of two years he was taken sick with infantile paralysis and since then he had walked with crutches. He had not been well since the first of the year, but his ailment had not been alarming until a week before his death, when he developed pneumonia, and he departed this life April 11, 1930 at 11 p.m. He attained the age of 23 years, nine months and 13 days. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Creger; three brothers, Oscar Woodbeck, John and Frank Creger at home; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Brown of Metamora, Ohio and Anna Creger, at home, his grandfather, Gottlieb Schadewald, as well as many other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held at the home of his grandfather, Tuesday afternoon, at 1:30 o'clock and at the St. Paul's Lutheran church at Blissfield at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. A.J. Lucht, pastor of the church officiated. The bearers were Oscar Woodbeck, John and Frank Creger of Deerfield; Selden Brown of Metamora; Reinhold Piotter and Martin Bohlka. The flower girls were Mildred Piotter and Florence Piotter of Blissfield, Doris Piotter of Deerfield, Helen KinZel and Lucille Beening of Adrian and Lucille Creger of Tipton. The burial was made in the Deerfield Cemetery.
